Medical Library display “Talking to Children”

Healthcare experiences can have a negative impact on a child.  Healthcare professionals can minimize adverse effects and promote better health outcomes for the child by having good techniques and strategies to provide them with information they can understand and accept.

The library has a number of resources to support healthcare professionals in their dealings with children:

“The Medikidz are five energetic, larger-than-life superheroes on a mission to help young people understand illness and medical concepts. Chi, Pump, Skinderella, Axon and Gastro take children on a journey through Mediland – an outerspace planet shaped just like the human body – to explain the diagnosis, investigation, treatment and prevention of different medical conditions.” Medikidz was founded by DSM graduates.
