Are you a post grad? Doing a dissertation or a thesis?

Over the past six months the University of Otago Library, in association with a number of University of Otago research support services, has developed a new thesis information guide to replace the old library thesis guide. This guide is intended for students undertaking a Masters or PhD level research thesis, and their supervisors.

The aim of this project was to produce a new, fully updated, and more user friendly guide. The content has been expanded to include all University departments involved in research thesis support and production, presented in a more attractive format.

In keeping with a one stop shop approach, the guide has been designed to help students on all stages on their research journey. The simple design makes it easy to use, helping users to find answers quickly.

The Thesis Information guide brings together all aspects of thesis production, from reviewing literature and managing references, to formatting and printing a thesis, and having it bound upon completion. Complex issues like copyright attribution and university policy on research ethics have been included. The inclusion of links to support services makes finding assistance quick and stress free.

The thesis guide can be found at The link can be bookmarked, or added to department (especially postgraduate) pages. If you have bookmarked the old library thesis page, or have the old link on your website, please change it to the URL above.  Contact your Liaison Librarian with any feedback, additions and amendments.

Check it out and let me know what you think! [Sarah]
